Welcome to the Spring Newsletter,
Well we eventually worked our way through another lockdown. Thank you to you all for being
patient and abiding by the rules. There is a lot of work to get through when trying to open the
course under Level 3. From myself, Peter and Kath working through the guidelines.
Todd our Greenkeeper has done a fantastic job maintaining the course for us to enjoy.
Another very successful October Tournament was held. The two tee start makes running the
tournament logistically efficient. We might just need to fine tune a couple things to eliminate
the small hold ups. Thank you to everyone for your support. Thank you to the Sponsor's for
enabling the Tournament to be financially viable. The turnover at the bar and fantastic amount
of raffles sold made the weekend a huge huge success.
The new cart shed is up and running and filling quickly. This is a real monument to Blue Cook
and his helpers for making the shed a reality. The extra space is enabling Gleniti to retain
members who otherwise might have left for a flatter course.
A number of trees have been removed over the last few months because quite simply they
are too big and dangerous. As a Club we have to be very grateful to the Monday Volunteers
who have processed the trees into firewood.
Due to the age of our Fairway Mowers the Committee is investigating the purchase of a new one.
Three makes to choose from. Toro, Jacobsen and John Deere. Todd is assisting the Committee
with this decision.
The Club has a dedicated practice area available. to Members. So bearing that in mind
Regulation 16 in the programme book will be removed, and a Local Rule regarding practice
on the course will be in place at all times.
‘Practice on the Course before a competition organised by Gleniti GC on any given day is banned.'
And please do NOT practice in the bunkers. ie playing multiple balls out of the bunkers or
whilst approaching greens is also banned.
Respect your course.
As we approach the end of the year it is time to think of election of officers at the AGM.
The date for this is the 6th December at 7:00pm.
There are a number of vacancies looming.
Bar Convenor
Greens Convenor
Men’s Club Captain
Deputy Men’s CC
And when you are all sick of Me I will need replacing as well.
There is a huge lack of Members coming forward to fill these positions.
The Club was very fortunate to have Marty Bennett step up as Secretary earlier this Year.
Marty is thriving in this role.
Todd is always after help out on the Course. It is part of his contract that the Club assist him.
If you have some spare time and think you could be of assistance to Todd please contact
Bob 0274783440 or Me 0274967466.
Thanks again to the volunteers staffing the Bar. A number of members came forward and
have made the job a lot easier on Maurie and Rp. Raelene Cowles and Evan Carter were
able to obtain their Bar Licences as well. Very much appreciated.
And to everyone that does that little bit around the place to make Gleniti the success that it is today,
Thank you.
Regards
Jimmy
